Your itinerary

Day 1
Bilbao

We will pick you up from Bilbao Airport and take you to the Gran Hotel Domine. After check-in, you will have plenty of time to settle in. A drinks reception will be held on the terrace in the evening, where your Travel Experience tour guide will welcome you and provide you with an exciting overview of the activities planned for the next few days. We will then enjoy dinner at the restaurant of the hotel and let the excitement for the tour grow.

Did you know…? The hotel is located directly opposite the Guggenheim Museum, with the famous Puppy sculpture from Jeff Koons – a huge dog adorned with planted flowers – situated in between.

Day 2
Bilbao - Elciego

After breakfast, you can look forward to a guided tour of the world-famous Guggenheim Museum, followed by lunch in the museum’s stylish bistro. Once you have eaten, you will start up your Porsche for the first time and drive through the Basque Country and the Gorbeia Natural Park to Elciego – an old town in the La Rioja region famous for the Hotel Marqués de Riscal, designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry. Here, you will be given a guided tour of the wine cellar and then take part in a wine-tasting session, followed by a delicious dinner at the Michelin-starred Gastronomic restaurant.

Did you know…? Even though the hotel is extremely striking, it blends into its surroundings and nestles up against the vineyards – a perfect symbiosis of design and landscape. The hotel features titanium and stainless steel design elements, into which Frank Gehry integrated the colours of the Herederos del Marqués de Riscal vineyard: the pink of the red wine, the gold of the net in which the bottles are wrapped, and the silver of the bottle caps.

Day 3
Elciego – Rioja – Elciego

Today, you will drive through the legendary Rioja wine country. Your lunchtime stop offers a great view of the surrounding vineyards and you will then be able to enjoy this uniquely beautiful area, as you are free to do as you wish for the rest of the day. We will reconvene in the evening and take you on a guided tour of a nearby vineyard, where we will spend a cosy evening together. You will then spend the night in the Hotel Marqués de Riscal.

Did you know…? In La Rioja, the great wine fight is celebrated every year on 29 June. The batalla del vino likely dates back to a dispute between two neighbouring villages: Haro and Miranda de Ebro. The dispute was about some hills that lie between the villages. Back then, as is still the case today, the “combatants” douse each other in litres of wine and then dine together in the Plaza de la Paz. And those who really want to look the part come to the festival dressed in white.

Day 4
Rioja – Bidarray

On the fourth day of your Travel Experience, driving pleasure is the number-one priority. Today, you will take your Porsche on a run to Pamplona via Logroño. After lunch at the La Veranda restaurant in the Castillo de Gorraiz Hotel Golf & Spa, we will continue our journey along numerous winding roads through the Pyrenees to France. The day will end at the Auberge Ostape hotel in Bidarray, where you will be served a stylish evening meal in the hotel’s restaurant

Our tip: The Auberge Ostape hotel is situated in a secluded area between the mountains and Biarritz. Enjoy the magnificent view of the countryside – in absolute silence.

Day 5
Bidarray – Biarritz

In the morning, you will be given a guided tour of the private Porsche museum, which is located in the middle of the hotel grounds. Afterwards, you can either take a shuttle to Biarritz and spend the day in the elegant port city or take a short ride out in the Porsche through the Pyrenees-Atlantiques department and the Navarre region. An exquisite dinner will await you at the hotel’s restaurant upon your return.

Did you know...? Biarritz is an elegant city known for its beaches and surf spots. Long ago, the European aristocracy came to Biarritz and founded the legendary reputation of the seaside resort on the Atlantic Ocean. Eugénie, the wife of Napoleon III, even spent an entire summer here in 1854.

Day 6
Bidarray – Bilbao

You will start the day with breakfast in France and then travel to Spain in the Porsche for lunch at the Akelarre Hotel in San Sebastián. Afterwards, you will drive along the beautiful coastline back to Bilbao and the Gran Hotel Domine. In Bilbao, you will once again have time to explore the city as you wish. To mark the end of this impressive Travel Experience, we will spend the evening together at an authentic Basque restaurant – just a short walk from the hotel – featuring the perfect ambience for your last evening.

Our tip: The gym in the Gran Hotel Domine in Bilbao enjoys an unimpeded view of the Guggenheim Museum. The 100-square-metre facilities feature the latest equipment for cardio and strength training. The spa with sauna and Turkish bath has won several awards.

Day 7
Bilbao

After a hearty breakfast, you will be taken to Bilbao Airport in time for your flight. The memories made on this trip are sure to stay with you for a long time to come.

Did you know...? Bilbao is more or less the capital of the European architecture scene. In the 1990s, the city centre of Bilbao underwent extensive renovations. This resulted in the creation of a metro line, which is now more than 40 kilometres long, with striking stations, almost all of which were designed by Sir Norman Foster.
